MEET OUR TEAM

Katherin Arevalo Bustamante

Intern Psychologist

Hello, I’m Katherin. I believe that therapy is a space where we can slow down, feel understood
,
and develop a deeper understanding of ourselves and the experiences that have shaped us.

I see each person as a unique world to discover, understand, and support. My goal is to create a warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental environment where clients can feel safe enough to explore their experiences, emotions, relationships, and the patterns they have developed along the way.

I bring over ten years of professional experience working with children, adults, and families across healthcare, community, educational, and developmental settings. My experience has taught me the importance of understanding each person within the context of their relationships, environment, developmental history, and individual strengths. I believe that understanding the function behind behaviours and emotional responses can help us approach difficulties with greater compassion and curiosity.

Clinically, I am particularly interested in neurodiversity, depression, anxiety, food and body image concerns, relationship difficulties, recovery from abuse and trauma, dissociation, emotional regulation, self-esteem, and life transitions. I am especially drawn to working with children, adolescents, and adults navigating neurodivergence, developmental differences, behavioural challenges, and emotional or relational difficulties.

My approach is integrative, drawing from Humanistic and Gestalt therapy, trauma-informed care, cognitive-behavioural and third-wave approaches. I also have a strong interest in nervous-system regulation. I am currently developing my training in Internal Family Systems (IFS), an approach that strongly resonates with the way I understand our inner experiences. I appreciate the opportunity to explore different parts of ourselves with curiosity and compassion rather than judgment, and to develop a more supportive relationship with our emotions, needs, and internal experiences.

I am a psychologist trained in Colombia, currently completing my supervised internship as part of my equivalency process with the Ordre des psychologues du Québec.

I am fluent in English and Spanish and am continuing to develop my professional practice in French. Having worked and lived across different cultural and professional environments, I value creating an inclusive therapeutic space where clients can feel respected in their identities, experiences, and ways of understanding themselves.

Outside of my professional work, I enjoy spending time with my family, discovering new places, and continuing to learn about human development, relationships, and psychotherapy. I bring curiosity, warmth, and a genuine desire to understand each person’s unique story into my clinical work.
