Our Team

Layla Kabbaj
Counselling Intern

I support individuals who may feel emotionally overwhelmed, caught in recurring relational patterns, or navigating anxiety that can leave them feeling stuck or disconnected from themselves. I offer a warm, reflective, and non-judgmental space where clients can better understand themselves and the patterns shaping their experiences.

My work is grounded in a trauma-informed and attachment-based perspective, with a focus on helping clients develop clarity around emotions, needs, and internal conflicts. I believe meaningful change happens not by “fixing” ourselves, but by building a deeper understanding of what is happening internally and why.

My approach is collaborative and adapted to each client. In sessions, I often work by slowing down emotional experience, exploring relational patterns, and bringing awareness to different parts of the self that may feel in conflict. I also sometimes use metaphors, imagery, or creative arts approaches to make emotional experience more accessible and easier to articulate. These approaches can help deepen self-understanding and support a stronger sense of agency, direction, and self-trust.

I often support individuals experiencing intense emotions or finding themselves in emotionally challenging or imbalanced relationships. My goal is to help clients develop a clearer emotional language and a more grounded understanding of themselves, leading to more intentional choices and healthier relationships.

I hold a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from McGill University. I have completed over 700 hours of clinical training, including direct client work, assessments, and psychotherapy under supervision. I currently practice as a Counselling Intern under clinical supervision and am working toward licensure with the Ordre des psychologues du Québec (OPQ).
