Melissa Clarke
Counselling Intern

Hello! I’m Melissa, a Counselling Intern driven by a passion for guiding individuals toward a more authentic and fulfilling life. Through a combination of personal experiences and years working in diverse settings, I’ve gained insight into the intricate nature of life transitions and the importance of navigating them with care. Most notably, my recent experience working at the Canadian Mental Health Association has been integral in learning to work with diverse individuals.

Life is a constant process of change, encompassing both significant and subtle shifts. My personal fulfilment stems from assisting others through these transitions. I am dedicated to creating a non-judgmental therapeutic space where you can feel seen and heard. Recognizing the courage it takes to open up to a stranger, I approach my role as a helper in your life with utmost respect and sensitivity.

As someone who prefers the humanistic approach, with a fascination for existentialism, I emphasize the interconnectedness of the mind, body, and soul. Mindfulness and somatic practices are integral components of my approach, underscoring the holistic nature of healing. At the core of my therapeutic philosophy lies the exploration of personal meaning, co-creation, storytelling, and the inevitable tragedies of a life fully lived.

Storytelling has been a passion of mine since a young age, and I believe that the essence of therapy lies in exploring your unique narrative. Together, we can uncover the chapters of your life, empowering you as the author of your own story. While this process may be both exciting and challenging, it holds the potential for true transformation when approached with courage and responsibility.

Currently pursuing an M.A. in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University in New Brunswick (expected graduation August 2024), I am working towards becoming a member of the Ordre des conseillers et conseillères d’orientation du Québec (OCCOQ) to obtain my psychotherapy permit with the Ordre des Psychologues du Québec (OPQ).
